Cross Companies Inc. was incorporated in Texas in 1994; however its roots are much deeper. Robert Cross joined with his father-in-law, J.W. McMichael, as a home builder in Southern California in 1964. The McMichael Company built many tracts of homes, apartment buildings, multi-tenant industrial parks and a motel in Colorado. In 1983 Robert Cross and Robert McMichael moved to Fort Worth, Texas temporarily to build out 214 residential lots in a joint venture with a Fort Worth Oil Company, and to develop 237 acres. This "temporary" move has lasted until 2009. In 1987 Robert McMichael retired and Robert Cross built homes under his name until 1994 when Cross Companies was formed with Cross’ two sons, Michael Cross and Richard Cross. Cross Companies has built many homes since its founding along with office buildings, multi-tenant industrial buildings and more recently an emphasis on remodeling, renovation, and additions to homes. Both of the Cross’s sons are now in Colorado, one building homes in Breckenridge and the other managing properties owned by the family. They no longer work with Cross Companies. Brad Jennings, son-in-law to Robert Cross became a partner in Cross Companies 4 years ago. The Company management consists of Robert Cross President, Brad Jennings Vice President and Marsha Cowan office manager.
